Red Pill or Blue Bill? Entering the Artificial Intelligence Healthcare Matrix. Program 213

Program Description

Artificial intelligence large language models (LLMs) generate human-like responses by leveraging vast datasets to learn patterns in language, enabling them to predict and produce coherent text based on context. In healthcare, practical applications include enhancing patient communication through chatbots, aiding in clinical decision support by synthesizing medical literature, and providing personalized medication information. Looking ahead, the integration of LLMs could streamline administrative tasks and improve telehealth services. To effectively interact with LLMs, pharmacists should practice prompt engineering by being specific and clear in their queries, using context to guide responses, and iterating on prompts to refine the output for accuracy and relevance.

At the end of this presentation, pharmacists and pharmacy technicians should be able to:

  • Describe how artificial intelligence (AI) large language models (LLMs) generate human-like responses.
  • Discuss practical examples and potential future applications of AI LLM integration in healthcare.
  • Identify prompt engineering best practices when interacting with LLMs.
