Smashing Stigma: Navigating a path to inclusion and access in healthcare. Program 210

Program Description

OBJECTIVES

Smashing Stigma - Navigating a path to inclusion and access in healthcare embodies a crucial journey towards equality in healthcare. By confronting and dismantling stigmas surrounding mental health, disabilities, and marginalized communities, this initiative paves the way for inclusivity and equitable access to essential healthcare services. Through education, advocacy, and policy changes, it aims to break down barriers that hinder individuals from seeking and receiving proper medical attention, ensuring that everyone, regardless of background or identity, can access the care they need and deserve.

At the end of this presentation, pharmacists and pharmacy technicians should be able to:

  1. Define disability, identify types of disabilities, and describe various models of disabilities
  2. Discuss the impact of ableism in healthcare, education and employment.
  3. List strategies to promote disability inclusion and dismantle ableism
