Increasing Awareness Regarding Opioid Misuse Prevention and Naloxone: My Multi-Level Marketing Scheme. Program 205
Program Description
This program will discuss many aspects of opioid disposal, consequences, and strategies. Unsecured and easily accessible unused medications pose significant risks to adolescents and young adults. This age group is particularly vulnerable due to their developmental stage, which is characterized by curiosity, experimentation, and a tendency to underestimate risks. Accessibility can lead to accidental ingestion, overdose, or intentional misuse. Experimentation with prescription drugs, often seen as safer than illicit drugs, can pave the way for substance abuse disorders. Additionally, sharing or selling these medications can lead to wider community health issues and even legal consequences.
Participant Program Objectives
At the conclusion of the program, the pharmacist and the pharmacy technician will be able to:
1. Discuss consequences of accessible unused medications for adolescents and young adults
2. Describe methods to properly dispose of unused medications
3. Discuss strategies to encourage proper medication disposal with individuals
4. Identify an opioid overdose and how to administer naloxone

This activity has been designed to meet the educational needs of pharmacists and pharmacy technicians.
