Pediatric Potpourri – 2023. Updates in Pediatric Care. Program 201.
Program Description
Pediatric Potpourri in 2023 will likely highlight some exciting updates in pediatric care. With advances in medical technology and research, there are always new treatments and approaches being developed to improve the health and wellbeing of children. Some possible updates that could be discussed include the latest developments in pediatric vaccines and immunizations, new treatments for childhood diseases and disorders, and advancements in pediatric surgery and other medical procedures. Additionally, there may be updates on preventative care and health education for children and their families, as well as innovations in telemedicine and remote healthcare services. Overall, Pediatric Potpourri 2023 promises to offer valuable insights and information for healthcare professionals who work with children.
OBJECTIVES
At the end of this presentation, pharmacists should be able to:
1. Describe the roll of the Kids MED list in the care of pediatric patients.
2. Compare recent additions to the medications used to treat attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) including serdexmethylphenidate and viloxazine.
3. Distinguish which pediatric patients with asthma qualify for SMART (single medication asthma rescue and therapy).
4. Compare three new products for RSV prevention
At the end of this presentation, pharmacy technicians should be able to:
1. Describe the Kids MED list and discuss its potential use by pharmacy technicians
2. Review the side effect profile for recently released agents to treat attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) including serdexmethylphenidate and viloxazine.
3. Define SMART asthma therapy and identify potential challenges the patient/family may experience.
4. Compare three new products for RSV prevention.
