The North Suburban Pharmacists of Chicagoland is providing our virtual continuing pharmacy education program experience. NSP is committed to providing thoughtful and engaging programs. Your support of ALL pharmacy organizations (ex. IPhA, NSP, APhA, etc.) is more important now than ever. How we are practicing our profession during this difficult time has been challenging and ever evolving. We will be working to provide virtual programs until it is deemed safe to provide live programs again. NSP is hopeful that you will participate and grow your knowledge with us.

Program Description

Patients are demanding the use of medical marijuana for various chronic disease states, but there is a lack of medical knowledge on how to provide and improve health care with cannabinoids in various populations. With the expanding medical marijuana and CBD markets, pharmacists need to know the most current, evidence-based information. This program will discuss how pharmacists and technicians can effectively counsel their patients on the appropriate uses, benefits, and risks of CBD products and medical marijuana (Pharmacy Today, August 2020).

Participant Program Objectives

At the conclusion of the program, the pharmacists and techs will be able to:

  1. Identify the source of a given cannabinoid.
  2. Explain the results of medical marijuana efficacy clinical trials.
  3. Discuss the safety concerns associated with the use of marijuana for medical purposes.

TARGET AUDIENCE

This activity has been designed to meet the educational needs of pharmacists and pharmacy technicians.
