Advances in Asthma Management Program 175.

Program Description

Asthma is a chronic, or long-term, disease that inflames and narrows the airways of your lungs

Asthma causes a variety of symptoms that can worsen at any time, making breathing difficult. Asthma is a disease that cannot be cured, but it can be managed. Some days there may be no symptoms, but this doesn’t mean asthma has gone away. Asthma doesn't have to slow patients down. Asthma can be controlled.  We will discuss the pathophysiology of asthma and treatment options that are available.

Pharmacist Program Objectives

At the conclusion of the program, the pharmacist will be able to:

  • }  Discuss the most recent asthma guideline updates
  • }  Identify patients with severe asthma who would benefit from targeted therapies
  • }  Compare and contrast targeted therapies for severe asthma
