Pharmacists Role in Cannabis-Based Patient Care Learning. Program 173.
Program Description
We have seen cannabis become legally available across the country over the last few years. Even the Illinois Prescription Monitoring Program lists authorized cannabis users on their website. What are the implications with their other prescriptions? How do pharmacists counsel patients that are using cannabis along with their other prescriptions? What if cannabis becomes recreationally available? We will discuss the opportunities and the role of the pharmacist.
Pharmacist and Technician Program Objectives
At the conclusion of the program, pharmacists and technicians will be able to:
- · Describe the timeline of medical cannabis programs in the United States.
- · Discuss the implementation and status of the Illinois Medical Cannabis pilot program.
- · Explain current proposals regarding recreational cannabis use in Illinois.
- · Discuss the opportunities and roles for pharmacists in cannabis-based patient care.
TARGET AUDIENCE
This activity has been designed to meet the educational needs of pharmacists and pharmacy technicians.
